Do you have a caring, tolerant nature and a passion for helping people? Do you try to put yourself in other peoples’ shoes and see life from their point of view?

Person centred values are at the core of everything we do. For us there is no one-size-fits-all. Just a willingness to embrace the challenge, try new things, and strive for positive change. The kind of change that can make a person’s life easier, better, simpler, more comfortable, more enjoyable or more independent.

We are currently looking for people to join our team of Support Workers in two residential services in Yate.

Mayo House is an exciting and innovative service with a skilled and committed staff team. Accommodation consists of seven flats with en suite bathrooms and cooking facilities, along with communal spaces, including a sensory room and large garden.

The team work with people with learning disabilities and complex mental health needs, providing individualised packages of flexible support within their own flats.

The Chestnuts is a perfect stepping stone to more independent living, consisting of a small community home for four people, and two adjacent flats for one or two people.

The dedicated staff team have particular expertise in supporting people on the autistic spectrum. They also support residents with epilepsy, non-verbal communication needs and with physical disabilities.

As a Support Worker, you will be working with the people we support to help them develop their chosen lifestyle and promote independence and dignity, while carrying out your role in a person centred way.

Encourage and enable service users to lead an independent life and develop and maintain relationships. You will be proactive and a team player, with great communications skills and able to adapt your communication style to suit the individual.

An understanding of complex needs and challenging behaviours would be an advantage. However, experience within the sector is not essential, as full training will be provided to carry out your role.
