The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for administering the activities of the ongoing inventory management program to ensure compliance with established procedures and service level agreements. He or she will recommend, lead, and participate in the implementation of program process improvements to optimize inventory accuracy and program productivity.
 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of inventory and stockroom management, including but not limited to collection of deliveries, logging in, quality control, storage, and distribution as required
  • Maintains all stock in a tidy manner; executes stock rotation in appropriate date order
  • Administers inventory control program activity to ensure compliance with established requirements; ensures completion of all required inventory transactions in the company ERP system
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure the timely completion of inventory program related activities; ensures the accuracy of program related data entry and transactions into the company ERP system
  • Generates and distributes weekly inventory control reports; summarizes inventory accuracy using cycle counts
  • Monitors inventory levels and organizes and maintains proper inventory levels; prepares reports on progress of work, inventory levels, costs, and production challenges
  • Participates in developing effective inventory control training content; regularly discusses receiving and inventory movement procedures with colleagues and provides training as needed
  • Performs periodic review of inventory levels, recording quantity, type, and value of materials on hand, through established the Cycle Counting program
  • Ensure shipment and delivery time schedules are maintained. Investigate and correct inventory discrepancies
  • Investigates and resolves various matters related to delivery schedules, inventory discrepancies, charges, and movement of materials; ensure timely communication of issues with management and applicable leadership
  • Ensures inventory procedures and safety protocols are followed
  • Responsible for updating work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma
  • Not less than two (2) years' experience in a laboratory environment or related experience, preferably in a GLP, GMP, or regulated facility preferred

Skills:

  • Knowledge of inventory management procedures and general warehousing terminology and best practices
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately
  • Well organized with ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously; ability to work effectively to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced team environment; ability to self-motivate with a strong work ethic
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a diverse community

Preferred Credentials

  • Associate degree in biology, biotechnology, or related field with not less than one (1) year experience in a laboratory environment or related experience, preferably in a GLP, GMP, or regulated facility

Working Environment

  • Primarily office and receiving dock
  • Intermittent laboratory/clinical environment
  • Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets
  • Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms
  • Personal protective equipment required, such as protective eyewear, garments, and gloves
  • Exposure to fluctuating and/or extreme temperatures on rare occasions

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work in an upright and/or stationary position for up to eight (8) hours per day
  • Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists to operate office and lab equipment
  • Frequent mobility needed
  • Occasional crouching, stooping, with frequent bending and twisting of upper body and neck
  • Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moving) objects, including office equipment, lab equipment, and laptop computer, with a maximum lift of 40 pounds
  • Ability to access and use a variety of computer software
  • Frequently interacts with others to obtain or relate information to diverse groups
  • Performs a wide range of variable tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions with little predictability as to the occurrence
  • Ability to perform under stress and multi-task
  • Regular and consistent attendance

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time position
  • Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the "core" work hours as published in the BioAgilytix Employee Handbook
  • Occasional weekend, holiday, and evening work required
