Position Summary

The Transportation Compliance Manager leads the company’s transportation compliance programs, providing expertise for regulatory compliance, best practices, internal and external safety audits, operational needs, and project management.



  • Transportation Compliance Leader and Technical Expert
    • Review and maintain transportation compliance standards, communicate standards and changes as appropriate
    • Lead the development and improvement of activities to manage fleet safety and regulatory compliance
    • Develop and deliver training and training tools to allow consistency through all locations
    • Ensure company’s training and compliance programs are aligned with industry best practices along with maintaining all regulatory requirements
    • Maintain systems and technology to improve compliance programs, support driver safety and adhere to any changing regulatory needs
    • Collaboratively develop equipment and technology specifications for fleet operations that ensure strong service levels and excellent driver safety performance
  • Hazardous Materials Transportation Compliance
    • Administration of hazardous materials registrations with PHMSA
    • Review, maintain and serve in a leadership role with emergency response for hazmat, including payment for ER services as well as upkeep of the transportation data files, ER contact lists
  • Rail Infrastructure Compliance
    • Facilitation and Technical Expert role for rail infrastructure
    • Subject matter expertise - Inspection, creation assistance and post repair/upgrade evaluation of work performed
    • Site review and reporting of rail infrastructure has been performed on request and where warranted due to risk (safety, traffic, public access, and hazardous materials)
  • Compliance Audits
    • Work directly as technical expert on transportation site audits, including scheduling and resources
    • Creation, periodic review, and revision of protocols

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or commensurate relevant work experience
  • At least 10 years of relevant, comprehensive experience
  • Fleet Safety Experience - minimum 5 years in managing and overseeing Fleet Safety and FMCSA Regulatory Compliance
  • Ability to support day-to-day operational needs as well as develop strategic vision and direction to improve programs
  • Expertise in the area of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
  • Knowledge and experience with cutting edge advance safety technologies
  • Comfort in using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and other programs
  • Ability to consult with others
  • Ability to work in collaborative environments
  • Strong communications skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 30%
