Bakelite has an immediate opening for a Supply Chain Manager that could be based in the Atlanta area or remote depending on candidate. The Supply Chain Manager is a high visibility role that interacts with senior leadership within manufacturing, sales, and supply chain. This position will also collaborate with compliance, human resources, finance, and other corporate capabilities, providing extensive exposure to a broad cross-section of the larger organization.

What You Will Do In Your Role:

  • Managing a team of Supply Chain Supervisors and Supply Chain Specialists, that manages CDL Class A Hazmat Chemical truck drivers and diesel mechanic.
  • Team Lead responsibilities includes identifying value creation opportunities, weekend/backup coverage rotation, customer inventory management and Liaison with contract carriers and division. 
  • Collaborating effectively with manufacturing, transportation, sales and external customers.
  • Developing strong relationships with customers and sales to understand, influence and optimize customer ordering behaviors.
  • Leveraging customer inventory monitoring systems to optimize fleet utilization and customer service levels. 
  • Multitasking successfully in a changing work environment. Adapting while encouraging others to adapt to changing processes and customer requirements.
  • Acting as a principled entrepreneur by identifying process improvements, key service trends, and cost savings opportunities.
  • Developing your direct reports and aligning expectations; identifying productivity and skill gaps and implementing development plans and growth opportunities.
  • Actively participating in plant safety programs/committee and fostering a safety and compliance culture.

The Experience You Will Bring


  • Associates Degree or higher with two (2) or more years of transportation, logistics, customer service or supply chain experience OR in lieu of a degree, four (4) or more years of business, logistics, customer service or supply chain experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience .
  • Experience using a Transportation Management System.
  • Available for occasional travel 25% of the time.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Supply Chain.
  • Previous experience dispatching and/or supervising drivers.
  • ERP experience and purchasing system.
  • Transportation Management System experience.
  • Previous of supervisory experience.
